Anger, Tantrums & Meltdowns

How can therapy help with anger, tantrums and meltdowns? Frequent meltdowns are often a sign a child doesn't yet have the skills to handle big feelings. Therapy helps children name and calm those feelings while giving parents tools to respond with less conflict. Call 913-229-5691.

Is your house sometimes filled with yelling, toy-throwing, limb-flailing tantrums?

Fits of anger can be overwhelming to witness especially if your child is violently lashing out or causing themselves harm in the process.

In addition to being able to help your child manage their anger, our team is trained to inform parents on various methods of responding to these outbursts that help calm and positively engage your child.

Where is all that anger coming from?

  • Challenges at School
  • Parent/Child Conflict
  • Sibling Conflict
  • Divorce
  • Bullying
  • Sensory Overload
  • Technology Addiction
  • Trauma History

We are here to counsel both children and parents through these difficult behaviors.

Ready to help your child feel better? Call 913-229-5691 or request an appointment online. In-person and telehealth sessions, with Medicaid and Aetna accepted.

Why does my child have so many meltdowns?

Frequent meltdowns often mean a child doesn't yet have the skills to handle big feelings. Common triggers include school challenges, conflict with parents or siblings, divorce, bullying, sensory overload, technology overuse and past trauma.

How does therapy help with anger and tantrums?

Therapy helps children name and calm big feelings, and it gives parents tools to respond in ways that lower conflict at home.

Do you work with parents too?

Yes. We counsel both children and parents, and we teach parents ways to respond to outbursts that help calm and positively engage their child.

Can PCIT help a young child with tantrums?

Yes, for children about ages 2 to 7. In Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), a therapist coaches you live while you play with your child, which helps with tantrums, defiance and connection.

Do you offer telehealth and accept insurance?

Yes. We offer in-person and telehealth sessions, and we accept Kansas and Missouri Medicaid plans, Aetna and Ambetter. Call 913-229-5691 and our intake team will check your coverage.
