    Rene Thomsen, LCPC, RPT

Rene loves being a therapist because of people’s extraordinary ability to learn, change and grow, even during the most daunting times. Whatever your needs may be, she is here to offer support.

Rene became a therapist because she wanted to help others learn and grow through their experiences and find peace and happiness in their lives. However, it wasn’t until she began working with children and teens that she found her true passion. Rene seeks to support children and teens in realizing their potential, to thrive in the face of adversity, and even have some fun along the way! She strives to provide children and teens with a safe, consistent, non-judgmental environment where they can express themselves and work through their problems with unconditional positive support.

Rene holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University. Rene has extensive play therapy training and is also a trauma-informed therapist and specializes in treating those who have endured traumatic experiences at any time during the lifespan, such as physical, emotional or sexual abuse, divorce, adoption, witnessing violence or any other event that was traumatic to your personal experience.

Rene has also had extensive experience working with adoptees and their parents at Kids’ TLC, a residential treatment facility. Rene is TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention) informed and loves to incorporate TBRI language and skills in her therapy with foster and adoptive children and teens.
